Capital Markets Senior Credit Analyst/Underwriter

This position will work primarily with our existing and new customers to facilitate new requests and provide on-going support for monitoring, maintain and manage existing credit policies and credit quality for Capital Markets programs and products. This position will also support the credit underwriting and due diligence of new business originated under the New Markets Tax Credit, Bond Guarantee Program and other programs offered or supported by the Capital Markets Group. This position will also coordinate with the VP Structured Finance in preparing and reviewing policies and procedures and modifications for all existing clients.

Utilizing your experience and dedication, this role will requires review of loan packages, analyze financial statements using SPARK, assisting loan structure/policy exception review, critically evaluate borrower prospects, prepare credit presentations (write-ups) and modifications for review by approval authorities, and provide support and guidance to less experienced staff, including peer reviews of their work, as needed.

As part of these responsibilities, the position work closely with other CRF division team members (as applicable and needed) and our Borrowers throughout the United States to capture key information to assess Loan Product program eligibility, determine whether borrowers meet our credit policy and community impact or that of the Programs we administer, complete analyses of the key credit factors and risks and make credit approval recommendations. Additionally, this position completes or assists in completing real estate and closing process due diligence reviews for all required areas (insurance, appraisal, environmental, title, survey, geotechnical, organizational documents, etc.).

This position will perform as needed:

  • Ongoing review and approval recommendation for approval draws
  • Any ongoing monitoring of Borrowers for assessment of credit quality and compliance with loan terms
  • Modeling support for Borrower projects
  • Assessing community impact assumptions using IMPLAN and other metrics
  • Assisting with Bond Guarantee Program Annual Assessments
  • Compliance support for NMTC and BGP program Borrowers.

As the motivated and detail oriented professional we seek, you will also review and recommend action on loan modification requests, working with CRF’s VP Structured Finance and Chief Credit Officer.


Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (finance, accounting, business, statistics, economics, mathematics) also required (or equivalent experience). 10 years of business experience, primarily in credit underwriting for business and /or commercial real estate loans. Proven experience in the development and application of credit underwriting policies is necessary including knowledge of secondary financial markets, credit policies, procedures, regulations and general accounting.


Advanced level of proficiency and experience with the internet and the following software: Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel; loan servicing systems and a nationally known financial Statement analysis package, e.g., Sageworks, Moody’s Financial Analyst, etc.
