Director, Enterprise Data Management & Analytics

About the Position

The Director of Enterprise Data Management & Analytics provides strategic and operational leadership over CRF’s enterprise data ecosystem, analytics infrastructure, and reporting capabilities. This role owns the vision and execution of data strategies across CRF’s technology environment and serves as the organization’s primary authority on data governance, data quality, and analytics modernization.

The Director leads and develops an Enterprise Data Management team and functions as a cross-functional partner to Technology, Lending Operations, Finance, Compliance, and Executive leadership. This position is the primary driver of CRF’s data management strategy and other data infrastructure investments.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in data engineering and analytics with the executive presence to communicate complex data concepts to board members, investors, and regulators. This individual must be a proactive, mission-aligned leader who thrives at the intersection of technology, operations, and community development finance.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Data Strategy & Governance

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine CRF’s enterprise data strategy, governance framework, and data management roadmap aligned to the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Own the Enterprise Business Glossary, data stewardship policies, and data quality standards across all enterprise systems.
  • Lead the design and maintenance of CRF’s master data management approach, including cross-system field-level mapping, data dictionaries, and migration gap registers.
  • Champion a data-as-an-asset culture across the organization through education, documentation, and internal advocacy.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Oversee the enterprise data warehouse (CRFDW) built on Azure Databricks and Power BI, ensuring reliable ETL pipelines, performant data models, and accurate, publication-ready reporting.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of executive dashboards, board-level reporting packages, investor reporting, regulatory compliance reports (including OFN, SBA performance, and CDFI fund reporting), and ad hoc analytical deliverables.
  • Partner with Credit, Finance, Portfolio & Platform Management, and Lending Operations leadership to translate business questions into analytical frameworks and actionable insights.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging analytics capabilities, including AI/ML-assisted reporting and predictive modeling tools appropriate to CRF’s scale and infrastructure.

Systems & Technology Leadership

  • Serve as the primary project data lead for technology initiatives, including vendor evaluation, contract execution, cross-system data migration planning, and implementation oversight.
  • Manage data integrations across CRF’s five-system environment: lead management, CRM, origination and underwriting, loan servicing, and CRFDW.
  • Evaluate, select, and manage third-party data tools and platforms, balancing cost, capability, and organizational fit.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop an Enterprise Data Management team, including hiring, performance management, and professional development planning.
  • Serve as the primary technical project manager for data-adjacent initiatives across the organization, including data migrations, new system rollouts, and reporting infrastructure upgrades.
  • Collaborate with CRF Business lines to define data requirements, streamline data flows, and resolve data quality issues.
  • Present complex data findings, project status, and strategic recommendations to the Executive Team and Board of Directors.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure all data management practices comply with applicable regulatory requirements, including SBA program requirements, CDFI Fund reporting obligations, and investor data covenants.
  • Maintain documentation standards and internal data governance artifacts, including data lineage, data classification, and access control policies.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive data management, analytics, or data engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or management role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise technology implementations, including system selection, vendor management, data migration planning, and go-live execution.
  • Prior experience in community development finance, financial services, or a similarly regulated lending environment is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to build and manage enterprise data platforms in Azure (Databricks, Data Lake, ADF) with Power BI as the reporting layer.
  • Experience with CRM systems (Dynamics 365 preferred), loan origination or servicing platforms, and SaaS ecosystem integrations.
  • Track record of successfully managing and developing technical teams in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment.

Key Competencies & Preferences

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to tailor messaging to technical and non-technical audiences including board members, regulators, and external investors.
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and comfort working with ambiguous, incomplete, or complex data environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and Power BI required; experience with Excel/VBA, PowerApps, or low-code automation tools a plus.
  • Strong project management skills; ability to lead multiple concurrent initiatives and deliver results with minimal supervision.
