Justice has been served. This verdict is a step in the right direction during a divisive time. We all know there is so much more to do to remedy institutional racism. CRF is committed to fighting systemic inequities – both social and economic – as the repercussions of this verdict will be felt far and wide. As we move forward as a community, let us do so in solidarity with the young men and women whose lives have been cut short by entrenched institutional racism. By moving forward with a common purpose – eliminating racism in our society – we can begin to move forward toward healing our city and building a stronger and safer community for all Black Americans. We extend our deepest condolences to all of George Floyd’s family and loved ones as we remind our community that this is only the beginning of our push for changes that promote racial justice. In his name, let us work even harder to ensure our communities are safe from racist aggression and racial profiling so our city and nation can heal together.
